In August of 2023, my husband received a life-limiting diagnosis. Despite my best efforts to continue offering my services, I am finding his needs greatly impacting my ability to meet my responsibilities to clients. Family always comes first, I’m sure you agree!
Thus I am closing my portrait business. While I am very sad to have to do this, I rest in the assurance that this is best for me and my family in the long run.
On a positive note, I will be turning to a different type of photography business - art photography. If you are interested in learning more about this, please check out my Instagram page - Camera & Compass. You’ll see lots of local, travel, and “art” photography. If you like what you see why don’t you follow me?
But not to leave you hanging! You are looking for a photographer, so here are some great local photographers. Tell them I sent you!:

Also, if you are a past client, your photos will be kept in storage for another year (until August of 2025). At that time I will be clearing my storage. Please make sure you have your digital copies stores safely. I will not be able to offer safe storage after that date.
Past clients may also purchase prints or additional digitals at deep discounts through December of 2024. Please reach out to me if you are interested to learn more about this. (kerry@kdwilliamsonphotography.com)

Some of my favorite photography locations in Waxhaw
Waxhaw, with its charming historic downtown area, is just oozing with great locations for a family or senior photos! Here are some of my favorite:
- alley way between buildings on main street
- on or in front of the footbridge (NOT on the tracks - this is surprisingly dangerous and illegal)
- under the iconic water tower
- near the trees with the Christmas lights on
- at the smokestack
- crossing 75 in front of the Women's Club (Beetles' Abbey Road Style)
- LOADS more!
Some other nearby locations include:
- Downtown Monroe - even more funky and charming spots all around the historic downtown.
- Marvin-Efird Park - Charming barn, rustic fields, pretty lake all make for beautiful back drops
- Ballantyne's Cullman Park - for something more manicured. Azaleas (in season), waterfall, willow-lined pond. All beautifully landscaped
- The Union Exchange - offers several large lawn areas with trees and a pond. Farm equipment and small barns offer a rustic vibe. The front port of the farm store is great, too!
- Lake Park's central park - not too manicured, and not too rural. When you want something in between, this is a great spot. The pretty central gazebo makes a great backdrop - as does the lush green park.
- Wesley Chapel's Dogwood Park -Small easy to access park (bring your dog for the dog park!) There are several perfect spots here that make for pretty family portraits.
